Know Your Rights in Airports and Airplanes

Since May 13, 2009, new requirements have come into effect under updated Air Carrier Access Act (ACAA) regulations. Key changes include:
• Coverage is extended to foreign carriers;
• There are new requirements for airport and aircraft regarding accessibility, services such as reservations, and communication for passengers who are deaf or hard-of hearing;
• There are new requirements for passengers to give 48-hour advance notice before flight if they use respiratory assistive devices or travel with emotional support or psychiatric service animals. Travelers with such animals may also have to provide documentation.
